Baby Josie’s Newborn Session | New Orleans Family Photographer
I swear, every Josie I photograph ends up stealing my heart and this sweet girl was no exception! Mom’s biggest priority for this session was making sure we captured plenty of family and sibling images. With big brothers who are 2 and 4 years old, that can sometimes be a little tricky. Bringing home a new baby is already a big adjustment for toddlers, and asking them to sit still and snuggle on cue can feel like a lot. But these two did amazing! We played games, told stories, and made plenty of silly noises to keep them engaged and their smiles were so worth it. As a New Orleans family photographer, those in-between moments always end up being some of my favorites!
Switching Up the Usual Session Flow
Typically, I like to start newborn sessions with baby’s individual images while they’re in that deep, sleepy stage. But for this session, we switched things up and started with family and sibling photos first. Keeping the boys happy and involved was the priority, and it made all the difference.
Whenever possible, I also love to capture individual photos of each sibling during the session. It gives families those cohesive images that are perfect for gallery walls (and trust me, you’ll be so glad you have them later).
Miss Josie’s Time to Shine
Once it was Josie’s turn to shine, those full cheeks completely stole the show especially once we added a bonnet! For her detail shots, she gave us the cutest little pout, and I could not get enough. She definitely tried to stay awake for part of the session (FOMO already, I guess) but eventually gave in and fell into that sweet, snuggly sleep so we could capture those classic newborn poses.
