If you’ve ever wondered whether 20 minutes is enough time for updated family photos, the answer is absolutely yes! New Orleans family mini sessions are one of my favorite ways to capture a mix of traditional portraits and genuine family connection in a short and easy session. They’re simple, fun, and perfect for families who want beautiful updated photos without committing to a full session. You might be surprised by just how much we can capture in a small amount of time!

Family minis are offered twice a year and take place at one set location. These 20-minute sessions are scheduled back-to-back, which keeps the day running smoothly while giving families a simple way to update their photos.
Because the session is shorter, we go in with a plan and make every minute count. I guide you the entire time so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands, where to stand, or how to get the kids to cooperate.
Even in a shorter session, I am always amazed by how much variety we can create! Each mini session includes 20 edited images. However, you’ll also have the option to purchase the full gallery so you don’t miss any of those sweet in-between moments.

This mini session took place in the back area of City Park in New Orleans, and the sunlight could not have been prettier. Because the light was so soft and warm, the final images felt fun, joyful, and inviting. Locations like this are one reason I love being a New Orleans family photographer! There are so many beautiful spots that create timeless images while still feeling relaxed and natural.

For each mini session, the goal is to create a gallery with a little bit of everything. That usually includes:
In other words, we move quickly… but with purpose! Some of the best moments happen in between the posed images and those are often the photos families end up loving the most.

Mini sessions are such a great fit for families with big personalities who are ready to jump right in and have fun. If your kids warm up quickly, enjoy movement, or love being silly, minis can be an amazing option.
On the other hand, if your child is very shy or needs more time to warm up, a full session may be the better option. More time allows for breaks, slower transitions, and a more relaxed pace.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer, and I’m always happy to help families decide which option would work best!

If you’re looking for an updated family photo that will look beautiful on your wall year-round, a mini session is a great choice. At the same time, minis can also be perfect for milestone photos, sibling sessions, and mommy and me photos
If you’ve been thinking about booking New Orleans family mini sessions, I’d love to help you capture this season in a way that feels fun, relaxed, and true to your family. If you’d love to book a future mini or full session, reach out to learn about upcoming dates and availability.
